Goodness of fit Tests for Generalized Frechet Distribution

چکیده

An important problem in statistics is to obtain information about the form of the population from which the sample is drawn. Goodness of fit test is employed to determine how well the observed sample data "fits" some proposed model. The standard goodness of fit statistics are inappropriate when the parameters of the hypothesized distribution are estimated from the data used for the test. In this paper, we obtain the tables of critical values of modified Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test, Cramer-Von Mises (CVM) test, Anderson-Darling (AD) and Watson test for generalized Frechet distribution with unknown parameters. The sampling distributions for these tests statistics are investigated. This article uses Monte Carlo and Pearson system techniques to create tables of critical values for such situations. Further more, we present power comparison between KS test, CVM test, AD test and Watson test. We used the software package MathCAD (2001) for all programs.

On the Canonical-Based Goodness-of-fit Tests for Multivariate Skew-Normality

It is well-known that the skew-normal distribution can provide an alternative model to the normal distribution for analyzing asymmetric data. The aim of this paper is to propose two goodness-of-fit tests for assessing whether a sample comes from a multivariate skew-normal (MSN) distribution. We address the problem of multivariate skew-normality goodness-of-fit based on the empirical Laplace tra...

A New Goodness-of-Fit Test for a Distribution by the Empirical Characteristic Function

Extended Abstract. Suppose n i.i.d. observations, X1, …, Xn, are available from the unknown distribution F(.), goodness-of-fit tests refer to tests such as H0 : F(x) = F0(x) against H1 : F(x) $neq$ F0(x). Some nonparametric tests such as the Kolmogorov--Smirnov test, the Cramer-Von Mises test, the Anderson-Darling test and the Watson test have been suggested by comparing empirical ...

Application of tests of goodness of fit in determining the probability density function for spacing of steel sets in tunnel support system

One of the conventional methods for temporary support of tunnels is to use steel sets with shotcrete. The nature of a temporary support system demands a quick installation of its structures. As a result, the spacing between steel sets is not a fixed amount and it can be considered as a random variable. Hence, in the reliability analysis of these types of structures, the selection of an appropri...

Sensitivity of goodness-of-fit statistics to rainfall data rounding off

An analysis based on the L-moments theory suggests of adopting the generalized Pareto distribution to interpret daily rainfall depths recorded by the rain-gauge network of the Hydrological Survey of the Sardinia Region. Nevertheless, a big problem, not yet completely resolved, arises in the estimation of a left-censoring threshold able to assure a good fitting of rainfall data with the generali...

A Jackknife Empirical Likelihood Approach to Goodness-of-fit Degenerate U-statistics Testing

Motivated by applications to goodness of fit degenerate U-statistics testing, the Jackknife empirical likelihood approach for U-statistics is generalized to degenerate U-statistics. The proposed empirical likelihood based goodness of fit tests are asymptotically distribution free. The asymptotic theory for testing shift of location, spatial depth testing for central symmetry, Cramér-von Mises t...
